Join our mission to ignite a love for reading in childhood. With your support, we can ensure that every child has the opportunity to explore new worlds through books

Providing Free Books to Somerset's Children through Primary Schools

By nurturing children's imaginations and a lifelong love of reading, we're giving them their best chance.

1 in 5 children in KS1 do not own a book

Research from the National Literacy Trust shows that children who own books read more often, have improved reading performance, and enjoy reading more. In Somerset, 1 in 8 primary school children receive free school meals.

It is therefore logical that by ensuring that more children have access to books at home, we can help improve literacy outcomes in primary schools in Somerset and beyond.

Promoting a love for reading is at the core of what we do. The joy and excitement that a new book brings to a child's face are immeasurable, and your donation ensures that each child in our Reception class was able to experience this.

Making a difference

It is widely accepted that book ownership, improving literacy, improving life outcomes, starts with having access to the right resources.

Our mission is simple yet powerful: to provide free books to primary school children in Somerset. We aim to bridge the literacy gap and create equal learning opportunities for all children, regardless of their background. By ensuring children can access quality reading material, we invest in a brighter, more equitable future for everyone.

Parents, you can help too

The best thing you can do is ask your child's school to register. It takes a minute, and it's how we reach more children.
