People ask us this fairly often. Why only Somerset? Why not Devon, Dorset, the whole South West?
The honest answer is that we're small and we'd rather be useful than spread thin.
Somerset has around 250 primary schools. We've reached 20 of them so far. That means roughly 230 schools in our own county still haven't had a delivery from us. Widening the scope feels premature.
There's also a practical bit. When we deliver books in person, we drive from home. When we hear about a school through a parent or a head, they usually know somebody who knows us. Somerset is the right size for a project run by two people with a budget we can see the bottom of.
If Story Seeds grows, we'll grow. We'd like to reach Devon and Cornwall one day. We'd like to see the same model run in ten counties. But before any of that, we'd like to make sure a child in Minehead and a child in Yeovil and a child in Wincanton all have a book on their bedside table. That's plenty of work for now. If you run a Somerset primary, register your school.
